Podcast Script: What's New At SugarCRM

Welcome to this 60 second Sugar snippet. My name is Susie Williams. We're back after a brief hiatus, and we're recharged, refreshed and racing to the finish line with our newest release of the Sugar software. We'll talk about Release 5.0 in an upcoming podcast; today's installment is all about what's new in the land of Sugar.

While we've been on hiatus, we have been hard at work on some new tools for you developers out there. We're putting the finishing touches on developers.sugarcrm.com, our newest web property. When it's launched in early November, you'll have a one-stop shop for everything you need to get up to speed on Sugar development. Tutorials, links to relevant wiki articles, primers on the LAMP and WAMP stack components, product documentation, an FAQ, and a code depot for finding the right example are all part of the new site. We're also featuring a blog written by Sugar Team members, so check back often for the latest from your friends at Sugar.

We featured a couple of projects in our "Project of the Month" area of SugarForge.org. September highlighted Florian Treml and his ever-popular ZuckerReports project. ZuckerReports is a powerful design and runtime environment for creating custom reports for Sugar. It includes JasperReports, list designer, and custom SQL, plus Word, Excel and OpenOffice integration. October featured Nathan Thomas and the SugarAppliance project. SugarAppliance is a pre-built installation of the Sugar Community Edition, built using rPath's rBuilder product.

We are planning a System Integrators Boot Camp, coming up in early spring 2008, in conjunction with our next Global Developer Conference. This exclusive program is by invitation only and will include three days of intense training on all aspects of Sugar, ending with an all-day workshop on how to build out a customization using our new 5.0 tools. If you're part of a top-notch CRM integration firm and are interested in attending the event, please contact our channel partner team by sending an email to partnerships@sugarcrm.com.

On the company front, Sugar is on a hiring tear these days, with many open jobs. Check out our Careers page if you're interested in joining one of the hottest Open Source startups in the Silicon Valley. We have positions posted for jobs in Cupertino, throughout the US, and in Europe.

We have also expanded our headquarters here in sunny Cupertino, California, taking over a portion of the second floor in our complex. We're on a fast track to kick out our neighbors as we slowly engulf the complex like a 1950's horror movie blob.

And that's your 60 second Sugar snippet. Goodbye!
