Welcome to this 60 second Sugar snippet. My name is Susie Williams. Today we're going to talk about our new release of Sugar.

Sugar 5.0 is our newest major release, and it contains several key features that greatly expand Sugar's core infrastructure. With these architectural enhancements, Sugar developers around the world can customize, modify, and expand the product like never before. Let's talk about these enhancements:

The new Module Builder tool for administrators and developers lets you quickly extend your CRM system to capture all the information important to users and managers. You can build an unlimited number of custom modules using Sugar templates or completely from scratch. You can share your work with other developers on Sugar Forge, or even sell it on Sugar Exchange. Modules are fully upgradeable, too.

Sugar's new email client has drag-and drop capabilities, searching, keyboard shortcuts, and support for folders, contacts, and personal inboxes. You can use the email client with all leading email servers, so throw away your existing email client and switch to Sugar!

The metadata-driven user interface combines the benefits of custom CRM with the ability to easily incorporate new features in future releases. Customizations are stored in a metadata repository for easy upgrading.

Field level Access Control manages and protects information at the field level. Imagine being able to allow some users to see but not modify the opportunity value field, for instance, while allowing managers to modify the field. This capability allows you to build in controls and processes that were not possible in the past without a lot of coding. This feature is only available to Pro and Enterprise Edition customers.

The new release has dashboards with charting capabilities and the ability to display multiple dashboards on your homepage. New chart types such as funnels and performance gauges let you graphically display your most important information with maximum impact.

Finally, 5.0 Community Edition is the first Sugar release offered under the GPLv3 license, and reinforces Sugar's commitment to a strong community.
