SugarForge

Dear Sugar Community member,

SugarForge is undergoing a facelift and you are a big part of it. Due to go live Monday the 14th, the new SugarForge includes important changes you need to be aware of.

Starting Monday, SugarForge places a renewed emphasis on you, the SugarForge developer. And you, the Sugar Forums poster. And you, the SugarWiki content provider. Your efforts add value to the Sugar community and increase your reputation -- so why not take a bow?

When the cutover takes place the home page will display the following reputation data:
  • Top Rated Developers, as determined by ratings in SugarForge profiles (sample)
  • Top Forums Posters, calculated from Sugar Forums (see list)
  • Most Active Members, a compendium of data points obtained from SugarForge, SugarWiki, and the Sugar Forums.
The notion of "Active Member" signifies your overall reputation in the Sugar community and includes factors like:
  • Forum post counts, new thread counts, and ratings of threads you start
  • Peer ratings you've received, and for ratings you provide others in SugarForge.
  • Number of tracker items you post against SugarForge projects (sample)
  • The number of SugarForge projects you are associated with, adjusted by your role in those projects (e.g., Admin > Developer > Junior Developer)
  • Bonus points if you are a member of the SugarForge Project of the Month
  • New content or edits you make to SugarWiki.
A complete description of the data points and the algorithm we use to determine "Active" will be available for review on the new SugarForge as well.

The connection between the SugarForge, SugarWiki and the Sugar Forums is based on your email address so make sure your email address is correct and consistent in your SugarForge and Sugar Forums profiles. Also, make sure your SugarForge ratings are up to date ... and make a point to rate others as well.

Additionally, new fields in the SugarForge developer profile allow you to specify a developer bio and to upload your picture. These will display alongside top rated lists on the home page.

We hope you like these and the other changes to SugarForge. Please be sure to submit a bug if you find something odd.

Sincerely,

- SugarForge team
