Beta 2 Released!

All the hard work has finally paid off. 5.0 Beta 2 was officially released earlier this month. Here's the one-stop shop for 5.0 pre-release links (beta2, etc.):

Note that Release 5.0 beta 2 is for testing purposes only. We encourage you to test the upgrade procedures and other beta 2 features on a test system – not production. Only Release 5.0 GA, due for release in mid- to late-November, is for production use. Moreover, Sugar provides an upgrade path only from previous to new GA releases, not from beta to GA release. Thus there is no Release 5.0 beta 2 to Release 5.0 GA upgrade path provided. Sugar at this time plans to provide an upgrade path from 4.5.1 versions to 5.0.

Sugar Community Edition 5.0 GA is scheduled for delivery in the mid- to late-November timeframe
Sugar Open Source 4.5.1g has been released. Download it here. This patch addresses new bug fixes for several areas of the product:
- Can't install the KB update patch due to a missing md5 file in the Sugar server (bug 16443)
- Opportunities summation reports with Expected Close Date as a display column results in a fatal error or white screen or index.php as a download (bug 16427)
- Inbound email passwords being re-encrypted (original bug 13640, additional bug 14337)
- MassUpdate allows Users to be deleted from Employees (bug 16658)

Sugar Appliance is October's Project of the Month

This month we feature an interview with Nathan Thomas and the Sugar Appliance Project.

The Sugar Appliance project was built as a way to demonstrate how much easier Sugar would be to install and maintain if it were simply bundled with Linux and all of it's dependencies.
