Project of the Month - May 2010
WordPress to Sugar Lead Plug-in
Description of project
The WordPress to Sugar Lead plug-in helps you effortlessly integrate your lead form in WordPress with your Sugar instance. You can configure your own lead form in WordPress, and the lead drops straight into Sugar when website visitors fill out the form.
Why are you a leading contributor in the SugarCRM community? What are the benefits that you experience from your involvement?
The WordPress to Sugar Lead plug-in that we have built, is expected to help the 9 million odd WordPress users leverage the content platform as a Lead generation source tightly integrated with SugarCRM’s Leads module. It will thus help them track and manage their website leads a lot more efficiently.
What other projects have you been involved with on SugarForge.org?
While this has been our first project with SugarForge.org, we are excited about contributing further and being a part of the growing Sugar eco system. We look forward to contributing to more SugarForge projects in the time to come.
What inspired you to create this project?
Given that WordPress is one of the most popular content management platforms in the world, we felt that there would be tremendous benefit to WordPress users to be able to automatically capture their website leads into Sugar. We were looking for different avenues to leverage our Sugar expertise and thought this was an exciting opportunity. A similar plug-in exists for WordPress to SalesForce. This plug-in would give similar functionality to all the WordPress - Sugar users.
What business pain points were you solving specifically?
Currently WordPress users have no means to automatically capture their website leads in SugarCRM. They need to resort to manual copy/paste and often suffer from errors or lost leads due to the manual (and inefficient) process. The WordPress to Sugar Lead plug-in will help them effortlessly integrate their lead form in WordPress with their SugarCRM instance. They can configure their own lead form in WordPress, and the lead drops straight into Sugar instantly when their website visitors fill out the form. Users cans simply drag & drop the Sugar widget to their side bar in WordPress and the WordPress to Sugar lead form is ready to go.
Is there anything that the users should know about those? Something hidden/new in this project?
The WordPress to SugarCRM plug-in works seamlessly. It is easy to install and configure and can be up and running in no more than 20 minutes.
What would you say to encourage additional community participation?
We have been working with CRM software for over 10 years and find Sugar by far the best platform to work with due its flexibility and open source model. The ability to set up projects easily in SugarForge and interact with other community members makes it a very enriching experience.
What do you want to build next for Sugar?
We are looking to leverage this experience to build Sugar plug-ins with other content management software.
